This area has steep slopes. The canopy was dominated by black locust, with
occasional cottonwood, elm, and a few red pines. Some of the cottonwoods in this area have 24-to 30-
inch stems. Buckthorn is common throughout, with occasional honeysuckle and hackberry saplings.
Ground cover is sparse to patchy and composed of Virginia creeper and white snakeroot. Garlic mustard
is common. This woodland area contains a sensitive drainage feature with steep slopes lacking
continuous ground cover for soil erosion control and water infiltration and retention.
Pin Oak—Bur Oak Woodland is recommended as a general target plant community composition for this
cover type. Restoration will require substantial canopy removal due to existing cover by invasive,
® Project Number: 193806465 10
