MOUNDSVIEW Trailways System Master Plan— DRAFT 7C
Trailways Connections
Anoka County Connections
The Mounds View Trailway System links to the Rice Creek North Regional Trail. The Rice Creek North Regional Trail begins at
the Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton, connecting with Mounds View. Upon completion of the Mounds View BLVD
(MV BLVD) and County Road H intersection reconstruction, the trail will be completed through the Twin City Army
Ammunition Plant (TCAAP), Arden Hills and Shoreview in Ramsey County, then north east through Anoka County to the Rice
Creek Chain of Lakes Park Preserve ending in Centerville.
The Mounds View Trailway System links to the Rice Creek West Regional Trail which continues west to Fridley in Anoka
County, ultimately connecting to the Mississippi River trail. The combined Rice Creek North and West Regional Trails will
present a long contiguous trail of beautiful scenic areas. The trail is a joint effort between Anoka and Ramsey Counties.
Ramsey County Connections
The Cities of Shoreview and Arden Hills have developed and continue to expand upon their trailways systems. Mounds View
links to these neighboring trailway systems east along County Road I and 85th Ave/County Road J. The main trailways are
along Hodgson Road/Rice Street, Lexington Avenue and Highway 96.
Ramsey County trail connections include a route to downtown St. Paul.
Minneapolis Connections
Mounds View also has links to trailways leading to downtown Minneapolis via Silver Lake Road, to County Road D, entering
the City of St. Anthony and connecting to Highway 88. At this point, many routes to downtown Minneapolis can be pursued
along residential routes.
4
