EDC Minutes <br />February 15, 2019 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br />MWF Developers <br /> <br />Beeman informed the Commission that MWF Properties is a little behind schedule due <br />to the snow but they continue to progress by the week. Construction is expected to be <br />completed by the end of 2019. <br /> <br />The Triton (Skyline Motel) <br /> <br />Beeman informed the commission that the EDA is expecting to close on the property <br />around May 1, 2019. In the meantime, Beeman has been meeting with developers to <br />explain the variety of options available at the site. Once the EDA takes possession, the <br />Police Dept. has requested using it for training then having the Fire Dept. use it as <br />training in a controlled burn. Staff will start target marketing to developers once the EDA <br />has official control of the site. <br /> <br />Ridgewood Apartments <br /> <br />Beeman showed the EDC a series of before and after pictures of the apartment units <br />being rehabilitated by a Twin Cities investor who has purchased two Mounds View <br />apartment buildings a block from City Hall and is rehabilitating units as tenants move out <br />and releasing them at a higher price. The investor is putting an average of $10,000 into <br />each unit and he is looking to purchase more class c apartments in the area. The EDC <br />appreciated the updates. <br /> <br />Other Upcoming Events/Reports <br /> <br />Beeman informed the EDC that City offices will be closed Monday February 18, 2019 in <br />observance of Presidents Day. Beeman also reminded the Commission that <br />nominations for Citizen of the Year are due Friday, March 22, 2019. The Town Hall <br />meeting will be held at City Hall Monday, April 15, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The <br />Festival in the Park will be moved to Silver View Park this year to allow more <br />opportunities to expand the Festival which will be held August 17, 2019. <br /> <br />8. REPORTS OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Commissioner Muckala raised concern of the high speeds from vehicles traversing along <br />Mounds View Boulevard. She suggested the City continue to keep pressure on the <br />County to encourage them to lower the speed limit along the corridor. <br /> <br />9. NEXT REGULAR EDC MEETING <br /> <br />Chair Farmer reminded the Commissioners that the next EDC meeting will be held <br />March 15, 2019 as needed. The Commissions discussed the need to meet and decided <br />that all meetings will be as-needed until the required November meeting. Beeman will <br />coordinate a speaker at an upcoming meeting. Commissioner Freichels s suggested that <br />someone update the EDC on the MNPASS lane construction project. The <br />Commissioners also agreed that they are open to Beeman bringing in more speakers to <br />present to the EDC with topics pertaining to business matters. <br />
