EDC Minutes <br />February 15, 2019 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br />Motion/Second: Commissioner Freichels moved and Commissioner Muckala <br />seconded the approval of the 2019 EDC Priorities as amended. <br /> <br />Motion Carried: 6 Ayes, 0 Nays <br /> <br />Review EDC Bylaws <br />Assistant City Administrator Beeman reviewed the EDC Bylaws and City Code stating <br />that staff is not recommending any changes at this time. Commissioner Larson asked if <br />the number of unexcused absences of Commission Members should be increased. <br />Beeman explained that most Commissioners are informing him that they will be absent <br />and therefore there are very few unexcused absences. If it becomes a problem then <br />Beeman will take the issue to the EDC for further direction. The Commission decided to <br />leave the language as-is. <br /> <br />Motion/Second: Commissioner Larson moved and Commissioner Stevenson <br />seconded the approval of the EDC Bylaws to remain as-is. <br /> <br />Motion Carried: 6 Ayes, 0 Nays <br /> <br />Update from Comprehensive Plan Task Force Members <br /> <br />Comprehensive Task Force Member Dennis Farmer provided the Commission an <br />update stating that the Task Force continues to work though the Comprehensive Plan <br />which must be submitted by the end of 2019. He clarified that there is not section in the <br />Comprehensive Plan that is dedicated to economic development. He said there are <br />smaller areas throughout the Comp Plan that address economic development and <br />businesses through the land use portions and other areas. Once the Comp Plan is more <br />complete, Farmer will bring business related items to the Commission for review. <br /> <br />7. REPORTS OF STAFF <br /> <br />Crossroad Pointe Redevelopment Project <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator, Beeman provided the Commission with an update on the <br />Crossroad Pointe development stating that staff is still negotiating the purchase and <br />development agreement with the developer. There is one remaining sticking point that <br />both parties are trying to come to a resolution on. Groundbreaking is still expected to <br />begin the second quarter of 2019 and the construction timeline is 12-14 months. <br /> <br />Rice Creek Commons <br /> <br />Beeman informed the Commission that Ramsey County and the City of Arden Hills is still <br />at a standstill and may be going to mediation to resolve their differences. <br /> <br />North Metro Business Council <br /> <br />The next North Metro Business Council meeting will be held at the Mermaid Event <br />Center March 13, 2019 from 7:30-9:00 a.m. Commissioner Helgemoe stated that they <br />are still working on a speaker.
