• In January Officers participated in the Polar Plunge again, raising $2,911 for the <br />Special Olympics. <br />• The Mounds View Police Foundation in partnership with the department <br />successfully hosted their 6th annual father daughter dance in February. <br />• The NRO worked with the MN department of Commerce and Mounds View <br />Public Works to hold a CATGUARD event to mark catalytic converts and deter <br />thefts. <br />• The NRO worked with various property managers to host Coffee with a Cop <br />events. <br />• MVPD Officers participated in The Torch Run for the Minnesota Special <br />Olympics <br />■ On August 1 st the NRO organized with block captains for the MVPD, SBM Fire <br />department, Allina Medics, and Irondale Marching band to attend 25 block <br />parties and two luncheons at senior complexes to celebrate Night to Unite. <br />• The NRO along with the SRO hosted a Halloween trick -or -treat event at the <br />Mounds View City Hall. <br />■ The Mounds View Police Department participated in the Salvation Army Coat <br />Drive again this year. As one of several participating agencies, the MVPD <br />collected over 600 coats in total. After one year of no longer housing the <br />traveling trophy (an autographed Justin Morneau bat), it has returned to its <br />rightful spot at the MVPD front desk. <br />• The Mounds View PD, Police Foundation, and SBM Fire Department participated <br />in Heroes and Helpers this year. The NRO worked with property managers and <br />Officers to identify families in need during the holiday season. Donations made <br />by the Lions Club, Abiding Savior, and the Police Foundation made it possible to <br />take 11 children shopping for holiday gifts, as well as provide necessities for two <br />more young family members of some participants. <br />■ The NRO continued the Pink Patch Project which raised $500 that was donated <br />to the American Cancer Society. <br />Current and relevant information continues to be posted on Nextdoor.com, Twitter and <br />Instagram. <br />
