Page 2 <br />Police Sergeant <br />• Answers citizen's complaints and inquiries related to non -criminal activities and follows through to resolve such <br />matters to the satisfaction of all parties concerned <br />Other Work Functions (Illustrative Only): <br />• Performs related work as required. <br />• Ensures established programs for law enforcement and public service are achieved and implemented. <br />• Opportunities are taken to promote a favorable image of the department and create good public relations through <br />civic groups and other presentations in the community. <br />• Ensures provided services consistently command the confidence and respect of the community. <br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: <br />• Valid MN Driver's license. <br />• Peace Officers Standards and Training License or Basic Law Enforcement Training certification. <br />• Must meet all state -mandated and employer -required certifications, medical, psychological, and other requirements. <br />• Knowledge of: <br />o Law enforcement weapons and equipment. <br />o Safety principles and practices. <br />o Defensive techniques. <br />o Physical apprehension, handcuffing, and restraining techniques. <br />o Geography of the City. <br />• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. <br />• Orientation towards community policing programs and principles. <br />• Ability to work independently as well as within a team. <br />• Ability to adapt to changes in tasks and responsibilities. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. <br />Persons with disabilities: the above is a general listing of job duties.
