Exhibit A Police Intern <br /> <br />JOB DESCRIPTION <br />Job Title: Police Intern <br />Grade: Intern - Seasonal <br />Supervisor Title: Deputy Chief <br />Department: Police Department <br />FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Seasonal <br />Date Reviewed: 4/22/2024 <br /> <br />Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience: <br /> Be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled and attending an accredited criminal justice or law <br />enforcement program and/or POST approved college/university. <br /> Have a valid Minnesota driver’s license with a good driving record. <br /> Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook). <br /> Possess the Mounds View Police Department Core Values <br />Nature of Work: <br />The Police Student Internship provides qualified students with practical work experience that compliments their <br />academic course work, as well as the ability to earn college course credit. The Internship also provides the Mounds <br />View Police Department with an opportunity to involve college students in various aspects of police work. The Intern <br />is a seasonal, non-sworn position, providing technical and clerical support for the Police Department. The position <br />provides entry-level clerical, technical, and customer service support while building relationships with the community, <br />external agencies, and staff. Students are able to gain valuable work experience, on-the-job training, and have an <br />opportunity to develop a networking base for future positions within the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />Communicates with: <br />Internally – Police staff. <br />Externally – General public. <br /> <br />Supervision: <br />None <br /> <br />Essential Work Functions: <br />Interns must be detail oriented and organized, with the ability to complete projects within timelines and under minimal <br />supervision. Interns must be proficient in: Microsoft Office, research methods, and technical writing. Interns are <br />expected to follow guidelines required by their college/university regarding journaling their experience during their <br />internship activities while at Mounds View in order to assist in their coursework evaluation process. The progress and <br />oversight of the Interns are monitored by the Deputy Chief, or their designee. <br />• Assist with administrative duties <br />o Light clerical <br />o Scanning documents <br />o Shredding <br />o Transporting evidence and equipment to BCA <br />• Supporting the Neighborhood Resource Officer (NRO) <br />o Preparing for and assisting during Night to Unite <br />o Preparing for and assisting during Festival in the Park <br />o Attending and assisting during community rock wall events <br />o Taking information for child or adult protection reports <br />
