Page 2 Police Intern <br /> <br />• Special Projects to include; <br />o Helping to create an opt in database of private home security cameras <br />o Updating the business contact list <br />• Receive overview of the following areas <br />o Patrol <br />o Investigations <br />o K9 <br />o SRO <br />o SWAT <br />o Administration/Support <br />o Police Reserve Unit <br />o City geography <br /> <br />Other Work Functions (Illustrative Only): <br />• Performs related work as required. <br /> <br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: <br />• Applies knowledge of office computer technologies, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, media <br />storage and retrieval. <br />• Database applications to include data entry, running reports and statistics, scanning documents, email, and file <br />management in a Microsoft Office, and Windows operating environment. <br />• Applies knowledge of office equipment including phones, computers, printers, fax, scanners, and copy machine. <br />• Communicates well both verbally and in writing. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, <br />community members and other criminal justice agencies. <br />• Ability and desire to project a professional image through knowledge of job, positive attitude, and accurate and <br />timely completion of work. <br />• Ability to work independently and to complete projects and daily activities according to work schedule. <br />• Ability to simultaneously address multiple projects and deadlines as well as triage multiple and changing priorities. <br />• Ability to prioritize work tasks and function with basic supervision. <br />• Ability to handle and maintain confidential material. <br />• Conforms to the policies and procedures of the City, the Department, and applicable sections of city code and state <br />and federal statutes. <br />• Ability to work with the pubic in a friendly, tactful manner. <br />• Ability to maintain the Mounds View Police Department Core Values at all times of: Integrity, Service, Commitment. <br /> <br />Persons with disabilities: the above is a general listing of job duties.
