-2- <br /> MOUNDS VIEW COMMUNITY <br /> THEATER REPORT Councilmember Wuori and Commissioner Silvis <br /> reported that bids on posters and programs <br /> • had been received and a decision would be <br /> made soon. Auditions were held on June 6 , <br /> 7 and 8. One hundred and forty ( 140 ) <br /> people auditioned for the play. A number <br /> of the Irondale High School drama <br /> department participated in the auditions. <br /> Councilmember Wuori stated that letters <br /> requesting sponsorship from the other <br /> district cities were sent out but no <br /> response has been received. <br /> SILVER VIEW PARK <br /> UPDATE Director Saarion reported that the Silver <br /> View Park parking lot had been paved and <br /> the city was awaiting the striping and <br /> finish work on the curb and gutter. In <br /> addition, the multi-purpose court was laid <br /> and will need coating and marking. <br /> Landscaping for the parking lot has been <br /> budgeted for next year. Staff plans to <br /> make a special section for rollerblading , <br /> skating or skate boarding. <br /> The final plan for the pathway around <br /> • Silver View Pond, submitted by Dan Boxrud, <br /> was reviewed by Director Saarion. She <br /> stated that the plan has been submitted to <br /> the City Council for their direction. <br /> Commissioner Wuori stated that the pathway <br /> was on the agenda for the next Council <br /> meeting and all interested parties were <br /> invited to attend. <br /> LAWCON GRANT PROPOSAL The 1988 LAWCON grant proposal for <br /> development of Silver View Park was <br /> reviewed by Director Saarion. This <br /> proposal included a bituminous <br /> bicycle/walking path, picnic shelter <br /> building, tennis courts , and fishing pier. <br /> She explained the criteria for applicants <br /> and the point system which is used. <br /> In addition to the LAWCON grant , staff has <br /> applied for a grant from the DNR for the <br /> installation of a fishing pier at Silver <br /> View pond which is a designated "children' s <br /> fishing pond" . <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner <br /> • Stevenson, seconded by Commissioner Starr <br /> to recommend approval of the preliminary <br /> LAWCON application and send it to the City <br /> Council for formal approval. The motion <br /> passed 6 ayes , 0 nayes. <br />
