-3- <br /> Resident Bob Carpentier asked that the <br /> Commission alter the fishing pier plan to <br /> be a bridge. Resident David Rademacher <br /> stated that he also was in favor of <br /> • altering the plans to install a bridge <br /> which could be used as a fishing pier. He <br /> felt that the bridge would be advantageous <br /> to the older walkers and to those people <br /> with young children who cannot walk around <br /> the entire pond. <br /> Director Saarion stated that the <br /> installation of a fishing pier was <br /> advantageous to the grant whereas the <br /> bridge would not add points towards getting <br /> the grant. Staff indicated that she would <br /> like the fishing pier to remain on the <br /> grant proposal and that if the Commission <br /> desired, the bridge could be added to the <br /> grant. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Silvis <br /> and seconded by Commissioner Stevenson to <br /> amend the original motion to recommend <br /> approval of the 1988 LAWCON grant proposal <br /> to include the installation of a bridge <br /> over the Silver View Park pond. Motion <br /> passed unanimously 6 ayes, 0 nayes. <br /> Resident David Rademacher asked staff if <br /> • <br /> the subject of an aerator for the pond was <br /> ever discussed. Director Saarion stated <br /> that water treatment of the Silver View <br /> Pond will be the topic of discussion at the <br /> July meeting. <br /> HANDICAPPED ACCESS- <br /> IBILITY IN PARKS Director Saarion met with Bob Syzman and <br /> Sue from the Courage Center. They toured <br /> the City parks and gave staff suggestions <br /> for making the parks more accessible to <br /> handicapped individuals. Staff will be <br /> making an inventory of these suggestions <br /> and presenting them to the Commission at a <br /> later date. <br /> FESTIVAL IN THE PARK Staff reviewed the plans for the Festival <br /> in the Park to be held on Sunday, July 17 . <br /> LAKESIDE PARK REDEVEL- <br /> OPMENT The Spring Lake Park Lion ' s Club has pledged <br /> $125 , 000 - $250,000 for redevelopment of <br /> Lakeside Beach. They requested two <br /> representatives from the Mounds View Parks <br /> and Recreation Commission to serve on the <br /> • committee for redevelopment of Lakeside <br /> Park. The first meeting is scheduled for <br /> June 22 at 7: 00 p.m. at the Spring Lake <br /> Park City Hall. <br />
