-4- <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner <br /> Stevenson, seconded by Commissioner Starr <br /> suggest that Wayne Burmeister and Mary <br /> • Saarion represent the City of Mounds View <br /> on the Lakeside Beach Redevelopment <br /> committee. Motion passed unanimously, 6 <br /> ayes, 0 nayes. <br /> PARK SAFETY ISSUES Director Saarion reported that a resident <br /> by Greenfield Park is concerned about <br /> reckless driving in the park. This <br /> complaint has been given to the Police <br /> Chief. <br /> Commissioner Stevenson stated that he was <br /> concerned about reckless driving in the new <br /> Silver View parking lot. He suggested that <br /> speed bumps be installed. Director Saarion <br /> stated that this subject had been discussed <br /> by the department heads and City Engineer <br /> Ric Minitor discouraged speed bumps because <br /> the City would be subjected to possible <br /> lawsuits due to damage of vehicles. <br /> Commissioner Starr asked what alternatives <br /> there were to speed bumps in order to <br /> enforce speed limits. Councilmember Wuori <br /> suggested posting speed limits within the <br /> • parking lot. <br /> Director Saarion suggested that a task <br /> force be established to deal with the <br /> subject of park security including : <br /> Speeding , vandalism, alcohol consumption in <br /> the parks, littering, animals, etc. <br /> Chairperson Burmeister directed staff to <br /> prepare background information on park <br /> security and suggestions for the function <br /> of the committee for the next commission <br /> meeting. <br /> After a discussion on speed control in <br /> parks, a motion was made by Commissioner <br /> Silvis, seconded by Commissioner Stevenson <br /> to set speed limits in parks at 10 miles <br /> per hour and to direct staff to have speed <br /> bumps installed in parking lots if agreed <br /> upon by management team. Motion passed <br /> unanimously 6 ayes, 0 nayes. <br />
