PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />January 26, 1989 <br />6:30 p.m. <br />Mounds View City Hall <br />Council Chambers <br />CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at <br />6:30 p.m. by Chairperson Burmeister. <br />ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Starr, <br />Stevenson, Long, Burmeister and Silvis <br />Staff present: Director Saarion and <br />Administrative Assistant Linke <br />Councilmembers present: Mayor Hankner <br />Visitors: Richard Kops, 2147 Oakwood <br />Drive and Peg Kovacs, 2654 Louisa Ave. <br />OATH OF OFFICE Mayor Hankner delivered the Oath <br />of Office to Commissioner Starr who <br />was reappointed to the Commission on <br />January 1, 1989. Mayor Hankner then <br />left the meeting. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Commissioner <br />Silvis, seconded by Commissioner Long <br />to approve the November/December <br />meeting minutes as written. Motion <br />carried: 5 ayes, 0 nayes. <br />ELECTION OF VICE CHAIRPERSON In accordance with City ordinance, the <br />Commission appointed Commissioner Silvis <br />as Vice Chairperson. <br />RESIDENTS COMMENTS FROM <br />THE FLOOR Resident Richard Kops, 2147 Oakwood <br />Drive, spoke of concerns regarding <br />the status of Oakwood Park. He stated <br />that he would like to see the area <br />developed. Director Saarion added <br />that Oakwood Park is a low grade and <br />very uneven. It may need a great <br />deal of soil corrections and grading <br />before any improvements are added. <br />Mr. Kops was also concerned <br />about the parking situation during <br />summer ballgames and requested that <br />"No Parking" signs be placed on one <br />side of the road during that <br />season. Staff promised to bring this <br />issue to the Police Department's <br />attention for advise on implementing <br />restricted parking. <br />
