AGENDA ADDITIONS The "Adopt a Park" program was added to the
agenda at the request of Chairperson Burmeister.
Commissioner Stevenson requested an agenda item
be added to discuss and possibly establish a
resolution regarding Highway 610 as it relates to the
traffic flow by Groveland Park.
CITY SURVEY On Monday, March 26, Decisions Resources will give
an in-depth report on the results of the 1990 City
Survey. On Monday, April 2, Decision Resources
will review additional information regarding the
community center issue. Director Saarion noted that
the first telephone survey done two years ago
reported that residents were satisfied with the
recreation facilities. The most recent survey
indicated that residents were interested in more
facilities, greater park security and maintenance and
indicated a willingness to pay for such services. It
also indicated that residents were planning to stay in
the City of Mounds View longer and therefore, had a
greater interest in the facilities. Director Saarion
encouraged Commissioners to either come to the
meeting on March 26 or to tune in on Cable Channel
16 for the televised meeting.
SILVER VIEW TASK FORCE Commissioner Long reported that the Silver View
Task Force met on March 16. He felt that quite a
bit was accomplished at that time. The Task Force
will meet again on April 4. Their recommendations
will be given to the City Council regarding the
master plan for Silver View Park. He noted that
although no information regarding the master plan
was given to the committee, the recommendations
being suggested were almost identical to those
previously on the master plan with the exception of
the path, which the committee felt should be
completed around the entire length of the pond.
Discussions revolved around the best surface material
for the pathway. In addition, as per the original
master plan, it was suggested that a bituminous
pathway be installed connecting activity sites
throughout the northern part of the park.
The Task Force agreed that a playground should be
a high priority. It was suggested that the Mounds
View Lion's be contacted regarding possible donation
of the playground equipment.
2
