Mounds View City Council April 22, 2024 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />concerns, but stated she loves animals and it would be important to her to keep this coop clean and <br />well maintained. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn reported there would be inspections. <br /> <br />Mr. Weston Miller stated in the past two years, he put a $100,000 addition to his home and <br />followed all City procedures for this addition. He commented on how he cares deeply about his <br />neighborhood and noted he wanted to continue to be a good neighbor. <br /> <br />Ms. Mathiowetz asked what would happen when the chickens were sick. <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom encouraged Mr. Mathiowetz to have this conversation with the Weston Miller’s <br />outside of this meeting. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />B. PUBLIC HEARING: Resolution 9903, Approving a Chicken-Keeping License <br />for Andrew Paine, 5249 O’Connell Drive. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Beeman requested the Council approve a Chicken-Keeping License <br />for Andrew Paine at 5249 O’Connell Drive. He reported all necessary paperwork has been <br />submitted by the applicant noting he was asking to keep seven chickens. He reviewed the two <br />comments he received from neighbors which had to do with noise, proper yard maintenance and <br />health issues. He commented on the request further and recommended the Council hold a public <br />hearing and approve the request. <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom opened the public hearing at 6:41 p.m. <br /> <br />Alison Henning, 5259 O’Connell Drive, explained she lived next door to the Paine family and they <br />were out of town for a family wedding. She read a statement on behalf of the Paine family noting <br />they were excited to keep hens, for their children to learn about taking care of animals, to collect <br />eggs and eat more naturally. She reported the Paine’s moved to Mounds View from California. <br />The Paine’s thanked the City Council for considering their request. <br /> <br />Hearing no further public input, Mayor Lindstrom closed the public hearing at 6:43 p.m. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9903, <br />Approving a Chicken-Keeping License for Andrew Paine, 5249 O’Connell Drive. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />C. PUBLIC HEARING: Resolution 9904, Approving a Chicken-Keeping License <br />for Jamie Rattanapamonsook, 7880 Groveland Road. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Beeman requested the Council approve a Chicken-Keeping License <br />for Jamie Rattanapamonsook at 7880 Groveland Road.
