(B) Vacancies will be filled using the same process as the original appointment and appointees will serve the remainder of the unexpired term. (C) The Appointing Authority may make appointments it determines, in its sole discretion, are in the best interest of the City. (D) An appointment is not effective until the appointee takes an oath that they will faithfully discharge the duties of the appointed position. § 33.107 VACANCIES Vacancies may occur on a City Commission for the following reasons: (A) Resignations. Commissioners may resign their appointed position prior to the expiration of their term by giving written notice to the City Commission's chair. The Chair is responsible for communicating the resignation to the other commissioners and the City Council or Economic Development Authority. (B) Removal — Commission Vote. Commissioners may be removed from office by an affirmative vote of four -fifths of the City Council or Economic Development Authority. (C) Removal — Absence. A Commissioner who is absent from meetings as described below, maybe removed by a majority vote of the Appointing Authority: (1) Planning and Zoning Commission — Absent from twenty regularly scheduled meetings per year without the consent of the Planning and Zoning Commission. (2) Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission — Absent from nine regularly scheduled meetings per year. (3) Economic Development Commission — Absent from three consecutive meetings, or from five meetings in a calendar year. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days from and after its passage and publication, in accordance with Section 3.09 of the City Charter.
