City Commission refers to the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Parks and Recreation and <br />Forestry Commission, or the Economic Development Commission. <br />Appointing Authority means the body authorized to make appointments to the respective City <br />Commission. The City Council is authorized to make appointments to the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission and the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission, and the Economic <br />Development Authority is authorized to make appointments to the Economic Development <br />Commission. <br />Standard Appointment Process means the process for making appointments established in City Code, <br />section 3 3. 100 et seq. <br />§ 33.102 APPLICABILITY <br />The Standard Appointment Process shall apply to City Commissions. Each City Commission <br />may have additional standards and requirements that are outlined in the City Code section <br />establishing that City Commission. Language in the City Code section related to a City Commission <br />will govern if it conflicts with language in the Standard Appointment Process. <br />§ 33.103 APPLICATION PROCESS <br />(A) Each person desiring to serve of a City Commission must: <br />(1) complete the application form provided by the City. <br />(2) consent to a background check consisting of a review of the applicants criminal <br />history and driving offenses. This does not include a civil or fiscal history check. <br />(3) participate in an interview with applicable City Commission's chair, staff liaison, <br />mayor, and one of two councilmembers serving on the City Council's human resources <br />committee. <br />§ 33.104 DISQUALIFYING FINDINGS <br />(A) Two of more members of the same family may not be appointed to the same City <br />Commission. Family members include domestic partners, married couples, parents, children, <br />siblings, aunts and uncles, cousins, grandparents, and grandchildren. <br />(B) An applicant does not meet the City Commission specific criteria established in the <br />relevant City Code section. <br />(C) Conflict of Interest. No applicant with a private or personal interest likely to conflict with <br />the general public interest shall be appointed to a City Commission. A conflict of interest may be <br />based on the subject matter considered by the City Commission. <br />§ 33.105 TERM LIMITS <br />No term limits shall be established for any City Commission. <br />§ 33.106 APPOINTMENT AND VACANCIES <br />(A) A City Commission may recommend applicants who have completed the steps in Section <br />33.102 and who are not disqualified pursuant to Section 33.103 to the Appointing Authority for <br />appointment. <br />MU210\54\944238.v 1 <br />
