MINUTES OF THE PRECEEDINGS OF THE <br /> • PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> March 26, 1992 <br /> 6:30 p.m. <br /> Council Chambers <br /> CALL TO <br /> ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6: 30 p.m. by <br /> Chairperson Burmeister. <br /> ROLL CALL: Commissioners present: Chairperson Burmeister, <br /> Commissioners Stevenson, Silvis, Long, Trettel and <br /> Starr. Commissioners absent: Commissioner Dentz. <br /> Councilmember present: Councilmember Wuori. Staff <br /> present: Director Saarion and Forester Wriskey. <br /> MINUTES: Commissioner Long made a motion seconded by <br /> Commissioner Silvis to approve the minutes of the <br /> February 27, 1992 meeting. Motion passed. 6 Ayes, <br /> 0 Nayes. <br /> CHAIR REPORT: None <br /> • COUNCIL <br /> REPORT: Councilmember Wuori reported that the MVCT Board of <br /> Directors has chosen "CAMELOT" for this summer's <br /> production. Audition and performance dates were <br /> announced. A question was asked regarding the <br /> improvement of Long Lake Road. Councilmember Wuori <br /> reported that construction should begin this <br /> Spring. It was asked whether a bike lane was <br /> planned. It was replied that a sidewalk will be <br /> put in on the West side of the road. Perhaps a <br /> bike lane can be striped. Councilmember Stevenson <br /> stated that the bicyclists prefer a separate lane <br /> versus sharing a path with walkers and other uses. <br /> It was also noted that young children use the <br /> sidewalk to bike rather than the road because of <br /> safety. <br /> FORESTRY <br /> REPORT: Forester Wriskey presented information regarding <br /> grants submitted for funding tree projects. <br /> Forester Wriskey shared literature regarding issues <br /> of forestry in urban areas and for environmental <br /> and energy conservation concerns. The changes of <br /> the Joint Powers Agreement to a contract <br /> arrangement was explained to the Commission <br /> regarding the position of City Forestry services. <br />
