MINUTES OF THE PRECEEDINGS OF THE • PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA March 26, 1992 6:30 p.m. Council Chambers CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6: 30 p.m. by Chairperson Burmeister. ROLL CALL: Commissioners present: Chairperson Burmeister, Commissioners Stevenson, Silvis, Long, Trettel and Starr. Commissioners absent: Commissioner Dentz. Councilmember present: Councilmember Wuori. Staff present: Director Saarion and Forester Wriskey. MINUTES: Commissioner Long made a motion seconded by Commissioner Silvis to approve the minutes of the February 27, 1992 meeting. Motion passed. 6 Ayes, 0 Nayes. CHAIR REPORT: None • COUNCIL REPORT: Councilmember Wuori reported that the MVCT Board of Directors has chosen "CAMELOT" for this summer's production. Audition and performance dates were announced. A question was asked regarding the improvement of Long Lake Road. Councilmember Wuori reported that construction should begin this Spring. It was asked whether a bike lane was planned. It was replied that a sidewalk will be put in on the West side of the road. Perhaps a bike lane can be striped. Councilmember Stevenson stated that the bicyclists prefer a separate lane versus sharing a path with walkers and other uses. It was also noted that young children use the sidewalk to bike rather than the road because of safety. FORESTRY REPORT: Forester Wriskey presented information regarding grants submitted for funding tree projects. Forester Wriskey shared literature regarding issues of forestry in urban areas and for environmental and energy conservation concerns. The changes of the Joint Powers Agreement to a contract arrangement was explained to the Commission regarding the position of City Forestry services.
