MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY • STATE OF MINNESOTA June 26, 1992 6:30 p.m. Council Chambers CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Burmeister called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. ROLL CALL: Commissioners present: Chairperson Burmeister, Commissioners Silvis, Stevenson, Trettel and Starr. Commissioners absent: Commissioners Dentz and Long. Staff present: Director Saarion MINUTES: Commissioner Silvis made a motion seconded by Commissioner Stevenson to approve the May 28, 1992 minutes. Motion passed, 5 ayes, 0 nays. CHAIR RPT: None COUNCIL RPT: None • PARK MAINT. RE-ORG.: Staff reported that park maintenance responsibilities were being given to the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department. Staff had work tasks on a schedule for review. Staff requested Commission input and advice regarding the maintenance goals and objectives. Commissioners added suggestions for individual park maintenance tasks which staff will add to the weekly task list. The Commission requested a time to meet with the maintenance crew to be introduced and welcome them as part of the department. MVAA TOURNAMENT: Staff reported that the MVAA was awarded the Regional Tournament for 12-13 year olds. This is quite an honor because the facilities must be of good caliber to meet the criteria for such a tournament. They hope to pass the test and bid for the State tournament in 1993. PARK PROJECTS: Director Saarion reported on the various park projects either completed or in planning. The Eagle Scout candidate Peter Szurek completed the painting project on Woodcrest Park building. Eagle • Scout candidate Bryan Rife will be working on the landscaping project for the horseshoe courts at Silver View Park in the month of July. Another Eagle Scout candidate Troy Griebe will be working on Lambert Park play area landscaping.
