MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br />MOUNDS VIEW PARRS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />Thursday, January 27, 1994 <br />6:30 p.m. <br />Council Chambers <br />CALL TO <br />ORDER: Chairperson Wayne Burmeister called the meeting to <br />order. <br />ROLL CALL: Members present included Wayne Burmeister, Frank <br />Silvis, Gary Stevenson, Edd Trettel, and Dave <br />Long. Council member Trude and Director Saarion <br />were also present. <br />MINUTES: Commissioner Stevenson made a motion seconded by <br />Commissioner Silvis to approve the minutes of <br />December 2, 1993. Motion passed: 4 ayes, o nayes. <br />GOLF UPDATE: Commissioner Stevenson reported that the Golf <br />Course Task Force had been working on the plans <br />for the Clubhouse and Maintenance Building. <br />RSC UPDATE: Director Saarion reported that the grant that was <br />submitted for the RSC was awarded for $75,000. The <br />Task Force is waiting word on the negotiations <br />with New Brighton and Gould regarding the <br />development of Rice Creek Plaza. Also, it is not <br />sure whether or not the Church Upon the Rock has <br />found a new location. Hopefully word will soon be <br />given regarding both issues. <br />FOCUS 2000: Director Saarion played the video tape that the <br />Housing and Neighborhoods group produced to <br />indicate some of the issues which fall in the <br />realm of parks and'recreation activities including <br />trailways, youth and senior citizen activities, <br />neighborhood park centers, pedestrian / bike <br />bridge over Hwy 10, open spaces, wetlands and <br />greenways. <br />1994 GOALS: The Commission was given a list of goals which had <br />been mentioned throughout 1993. Director Saarion <br />asked whether or not the Commission was interested <br />in retaining these as goals for 1994 or if their <br />were any others that they wished to have on the <br />list. Director Saarion informed the Commission <br />that the Council has invited them to share their <br />ideas and goals with them at the April 4 work <br />session. Also, Director Saarion informed <br />Chairperson Burmeister that the Commission Chairs <br />were again being invited to attend an afternoon <br />
