with the Council and Department Heads at the
Strategic Planning on Saturday, April 9.
Commissioner Stevenson requested that an
additional goal be listed. That goal is to look
into the acquisition of additional park land.
Commissioner Silvis made a motion, seconded by
Chairperson Burmeister to investigate into
property which could be purchased for additional
parkland. Motion passed: 4 ayes, 0 nayes.
OAKWOOD
FIELD
IMPROVEMENTS: Director Saarion reported that the LLLL offered to
return $470 to the City in the form of field
improvements at Oakwood Park. This is the field
that LLLL is provided with. Because the LLLL
budgets $10 / player for capital improvement
needs, and because MV had 47 players register for
LLLL in 1993, the LLLL wishes to return the
capital improvement in the form of safety fences
at Oakwood Park. Usually
associations are very demanding and do not feel
the need to contribute to improvement funding.
This is a new cooperative funding endeavor and
Director Saarion encouraged the Commission to take
the offer and provide a cooperative capital
improvement to Oakwood Park in the form of safety
fencing for the players' benches.
Commissioner Silvis made a motion seconded by
Chair Burmeister to approve the receipt of the
money and the joint project venture of players
benches safety fencing. Motion passed: 4 ayes, 0
nayes.
Commissioner Trettel suggested that this venture
be written up in the City Newsletter to
demonstrate what good things can happen when
groups work together.
GREENFIELD
BASEBALL
FIELD: Director Saarion reported that the netting will be
installed at Greenfield Baseball field - paid out
of Recreation Activity profits. It will be up in
the Spring, for summer baseball.
ARDAN PARK: Director Saarion reported that the City Council
has requested Ramsey County to look into other
sites for the Ardan Compost pile with the
intention of getting the compost pile out of Ardan
