Park for good. The County has requested that the
City print a survey for the residents to determine
whether or not a site should be pursued in this
area.
POLICY ON
NAMING PARKS: Council member Trude asked the Commissioner's
opinions regarding the naming of parks. It is
Julie's opinion that parks should not be named for
people or groups since over time persons and
groups may be gone and future generations will not
identify with the names. It was mentioned that
most of MV parks are named after locations or
streets.
It was requested that Director Saarion prepare a
draft policy statement regarding the naming of
parks.
REVIEW: Director Saarion passed out the 1994 Annual
Reports and the Gift Catalogues. She also
reviewed upcoming activities and reported on past
winter activities.
PARK CLEANUP
DAY: Director Saarion reported that the EQC was
interested in having a joint park and Earth Day
cleanup activity in April. Council member Trude
inquired to the opinion of the Commission
regarding a city wide cleanup day. It was
discussed and agreed that a city wide cleanup day
would be nice and that the park cleanup could be
held on the same day. It was a concern that Earth
Day was too early in the Spring. A May cleanup
day was more agreeable to the Commissioners.
Commissioner Trude said that she would talk to the
Council regarding the reinstitution of a city wide
clean up day.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion was made by Commissioner Silvis and
seconded by Commissioner Trettel to adjourn the
meeting. Motion passed: 4 ayes, 0 nayes.
