MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE MOUNDS VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION Thursday, February 24, 1994 6:30 p.m. Council Chambers CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Burmeister. ROLL CALL: Commissioners present: Chair Burmeister, Commissioners Starr, Dentz, Long, and Trettel. Absent: Commissioners Silvis and Stevenson. Council Member present: Trude. Staff present: Saarion. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Long made a motion seconded by Commissioner Starr to approve the minutes of January 27, 1994. Councilmember made note that she thought the minutes reflected a "railroading" of the issue of park naming. The Commission did not feel that that was true and noted that previous discussions had occurred which concurred with the opinions written in the minutes. Motion passed, 0 nays, 5 ayes. UPDATE OF GOLF COURSE: Director Saarion reported that the pre - construction meeting will be held Tuesday, March 1 and that bids are due March 11. The Council will be asked to approve the bid award on March 28. Commissioner Dentz reported that the receptor project was also bidding and that the two projects should be in pretty good synch. ARDAN PARK MASTER PLAN: Director Saarion informed the Commission that Ramsey County was looking into other locations for the compost pile currently at Ardan Park. The County has solicited a survey (in the Newsletter) to determine the ideas of the residents. This information may help in determining a new site. Commissioners were a little concerned that the problems of the traffic and stench is a problem of those living around the park, but others in the community do not have a problem and therefore the concerns may not be duly noted in the surveys if the quantity of opinions is a deciding factor.
