I <br />Director Saarion reviewed long time master plans <br />of Ardan Park and asked the Commission's pleasure <br />regarding action. It was the consensus of the <br />Commission that action wait until the compost pile <br />is actually gone. At that time the Commission <br />would like to invite the neighboring residents to <br />come in and give input to the development of Ardan <br />Park. <br />The Commission also requested a site visit of <br />Ardan Park during an upcoming meeting once warmer <br />weather arrives. <br />RESOLUTION <br />FOR PARK <br />NAMING: Director Saarion provided a resolution from which <br />to begin the discussion of park naming policy. <br />Commissioners discussed the working and ideas and <br />several suggested additions and deletions were <br />given. Director Saarion will rewrite the <br />resolution and present it at the next meeting for <br />further review. <br />CLEAN-UP DAY: Director Saarion stated that no final decision has <br />been made by either the Commission or the Council <br />regarding cleanup days. It was requested that <br />either group determine a date so that it can be <br />advertised and groups organized. Council member <br />Trude agreed to place the item on the Council <br />agenda for discussion regarding a joint park and <br />city cleanup in May. <br />GRANT <br />PROJECTS: Director Saarion stated that several grants were <br />being prepared including CDBG for park building <br />improvements, ISTEA for a pedestrian bridge and <br />LAWCON for golf course park development and land <br />acquisition. Commissioners decided that the <br />Lawcon land acquisition would be first priority. <br />LETTER FROM <br />LAHOUD: Staff shared the letter and complaint from Mr. <br />LaHoud and the frustrations of the issue. <br />RECREATION <br />SECURITY AND <br />SAFETY ISSUE: Councilmember Trude presented her concerns <br />regarding issues of safety and security for <br />recreation participants with special concerns of <br />the summer playground program. After lengthy - <br />discussion, it was suggested that a revised <br />program be offered which is more structured and <br />less flexible, and offering less freedoms of the <br />participant.
