• Also, Director Saarion thanked Commissioners for their help during the <br /> Bicycle Safety Clinic at which time over 120 helmets were distributed to <br /> community youth - FREE. Director Saarion reported that Sharie Linke <br /> had submitted an Arts Grant that was awarded - providing entertainment <br /> for Festival and the Sr. Day in the Park which had over 180 seniors in <br /> attendance. New programs such as Teen Dance Color Guard, Travelling <br /> Playground and Sports Rap were also discussed. <br /> ICE ARENA: Council Member Trude reported on the ice arena project that has been <br /> proposed at the MN Amateur Sports Arena in Blaine. It was reported that <br /> the four cities and school dist. 621 have been studying proposal, reviewing <br /> feasibility studies and financing programs. The project is very dependant <br /> on other partners - and it is a process of making sure that all parties are in <br /> agreement and the risks to cities minimal. More information to come later. <br /> COMMUNITY <br /> CENTER: Council Member Trude asked the Commission to provide her with input <br /> regarding the Community Center. The preliminary space plans were <br /> reviewed. Spaces were discussed. Possible uses and programs were <br /> suggested. Commissioner Stevenson made a motion seconded by <br /> Commissioner Silvis to recommend that the City Council investigate the <br /> • renovation of the Bel Rae with the addition of a gymnasium with creative <br /> financing that will provide services at the community facility as feasibility <br /> as possible. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Silvis made a motion seconded by Commissioner Gunn to <br /> adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> • <br />
