<br />Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting Minutes <br />January 24, 2008 <br />6:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> <br />GREENFIELD PARK PUBLIC MEETING <br />LONG TERM PLANS FOR CURRENT PARKLAND AND TRAILWAY <br /> <br /> <br />NOTE: The Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners conducted a public meeting to discuss the <br />long term plan for the parkland area and existing trailway located north of Oakwood Park and east / <br />northeast of Greenfield Park. Other agenda items followed the public meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />1. Call to order 6:30 P.M. Roll Call: Peterson, Long, Arel, Kroeger, Kunz, Palm, Aukee (6:33) <br /> Staff present: Lee, Weldon, Dazenski, Wriskey <br /> <br />nd <br />2. Approval of minutes from the December 20, 2007 meeting. Motion by Peterson, 2 by Long to <br />approve the minutes. Motion Passed 6-0. <br /> <br />3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners <br />on issues of concern. NO RESIDENTS TO SPEAK other than for the Public Meeting. See addendum <br /> <br />4. YMCA Update – Weldon: <br />th <br /> Ice skating season is up and running. Last day is scheduled for February 17. Commissioners suggested <br />th <br />longer skating season if weather holds, especially try to stay open through February 18 for schools out on <br />President’s Day. <br /> New Event Center Coordinator: Matthew Baumann <br />rdth <br /> February 23 from 9a.m.-12 noon: Annual garage sale. Items accepted up until February 15. <br /> <br />Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />5. Greenfield Park Pubic Meeting: See attached addendum. <br /> a.) Suggested to review written comments by public input forms, and try to narrow it to 1-2 options by <br />considering pros and cons, trying to make a decision by March or April. Commissioners are encouraged to <br />look at the website www.treetrust.org for opportunities with trail development assistance. Direct staff to <br />prepare cost estimates for trail surface and bridge replacement, whether or not we can use the <br />bridges from the golf course. <br /> <br />b.) Developing a Volunteer Coach of the Year award and naming it after Patrick “Homer” Holmes – <br />nd <br />Motion by Palm, 2 by Aukee to call the award “The City of Mounds View Volunteer Coach of the <br />Year Award.” The certificate and plaque would also say “in honor of Patrick ‘Homer’ Holmes <br />presented to …” Motion Passed 7-0. <br /> <br />Staff will put together a sample plaque for the next meeting. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
