Section <br />CHAPTER 90: ANIMALS AND ANIMAL CONTROL <br />90.001 Pound established <br />90.002 Definitions <br />90.003 Dogs <br />90.004 Prohibited activities <br />90.005 Raising, keeping domestic or farm animals <br />90.006 Non -domestic, wild animals <br />90.999 Penalty <br />§ 90.001 POUND ESTABLISHED. <br />The City Council may designate as the "municipal pound", by resolution, a privately -owned and <br />operated facility that houses animals and is staffed by qualified personnel. The facility may be located <br />within or outside the city. <br />(Prior Code, § 701.02) (Ord. 460, passed 04-24-1989; Ord. 696, passed 04-22-2002) <br />§ 90.002 DEFINITIONS. <br />For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly <br />indicates or requires a different meaning. <br />ANIMAL. Any mammal, reptile, amphibian, fish, bird (including all fowl and poultry) or other member <br />commonly accepted as part of the animal kingdom. ANIMALS shall be classified as follows. <br />(1) DOMESTIC ANIMALS. Those animals commonly accepted as domesticated household pets. <br />Unless otherwise defined, DOMESTIC ANIMALS shall include dogs, cats, caged birds, gerbils, <br />hamsters, guinea pigs, domesticated rabbits, fish, non-poisonous, non -venomous reptiles or <br />amphibians and other similar animals. <br />(2) FARM ANIMALS. Those animals commonly associated with a farm or an agricultural setting. <br />Unless otherwise defined, FARMANIMALS shall include members of the equestrian family (horses, <br />mules), bovine family (cows, bulls), sheep, poultry (chickens, turkeys, pheasants), fowl (ducks, geese), <br />swine (including Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs), goats, bees and other animals associated with a farm, <br />ranch or stable. <br />(3) NON-DOMESTIC/WILD ANIMALS. Those animals commonly considered to be naturally wild <br />and not usually trained or domesticated, or which are commonly considered to be inherently <br />dangerous to the health, safety, and welfare of people. Unless otherwise defined, NON- <br />DOMESTIC/WILD ANIMALS shall include: <br />(a) Any member of the large cat family (family felidae) including lions, tigers, cougars, bobcats, <br />leopards and jaguars, excluding domesticated house cats; <br />
