During the June 24,
2024 City Council meeting, a part-time Police Community Service Officer (CSO) position was approved to
work 20 — 29 hours per week. CSO staff will receive vacation, sick and holiday pay. The HR Committee
supports the CSO position receiving tuition reimbursement. A slight adjustment is needed to the Police
Tuition Reimbursement Policy, eliminating the word "Regular" before part-time. Consistently throughout the
policy manual, regular part-time is used to indicate part-time staff working 30+ hours per week. Regular
part-time staff indicates staff are eligible for insurance benefits.
Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal:
Create a culture where employees desire to work.
Financial Impact:
Police Department tuition reimbursement policy is dependent upon usage of program (annual maximum
of $5000).
Recommendation:
Staff recommends the City Council adopt Resolution 9947, Revising Police Department Tuition
Reimbursement Policy.
Respectfully submitted,
Rayla Sue Ewald
Human Resource Director
Attached: Resolution 9947
Revised Police Department Tuition Reimbursement Policy
The Mounds View Vision
A Thriving Desirable Community
