Item No: 6A <br /> MOM Wmc RE-W Meeting Date: 08/12/2024 <br /> U1VLJ 1L1V Type of Business: Special Order of Business <br /> Administrator Review: <br /> City or Mounds View Staff Report <br /> To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From: Ben Zender, Chief of Police <br /> Item Title/Subject: 2024 Quarter 2 Report <br /> Background: <br /> As part of the City Strategic Plan process, Department Heads provide a quarterly report <br /> outlining the status of their projects and percent completed in achieving the goals and <br /> policies adopted by the City Council through the Strategic Plan. <br /> Discussion: <br /> At the beginning of 2024, the Mounds View Police Department is continuing to work on <br /> action steps and tasks in order to fulfill the goals and strategies to support the City <br /> Councils Vision and Mission as outlined in the 2023-2025 City Strategic Plan. The <br /> Mounds View Police Department continues to work on recruitment, retention, wellness, <br /> proactivity, and outreach. <br /> Strategic Plan Vision/Strategy/Goal: Vison: A progressive community that is <br /> welcoming, and a desirable destination to all ages and cultures, who seek progress <br /> through partnerships, and where residents can work, live, and play safely and show <br /> pride in the community. <br /> Goal A: Increased enforcement and responsiveness to drugs, traffic, code violations, <br /> and petty crimes. <br /> 1. VCET continues to make several major narcotic arrests <br /> 2. Officers have participated in several DWI and speed enforcement details through <br /> the Ramsey County Traffic Safety Initiative (RCTSI) <br /> 3. An Officer was nominated for traffic related awards to include the MADD Awards <br /> and the Office of Traffic Safety TZD DWI All Star Team Awards <br /> 4. Flock Camera Safety Systems have been installed throughout the city <br /> Goal B: Continue community outreach programs. Focus on diversity events and public <br /> relation activities. <br /> 1. Increase social media presence and activity through Twitter, Next Door, <br /> Instagram, and the Mounds View city Facebook page <br /> 2. Partnered with the Mounds View Police Foundation to hold a Dine to Donate <br /> Event at the Pink Flower Restaurant in Mounds View <br /> 3. Partnered with city and community members for the Tribute Park Committee <br /> 4. Participated in the Alexandria Technical College Career and Internship Fair <br /> 5. Participated in the Pinewood Elementary School Carnival <br /> 6. Participated in and provided security for the Juneteenth Celebration Event <br /> 7. Chief Zender and Deputy Chief Hellpap were recognized at the annual employee <br /> appreciation luncheon for 20 years of service. Officer Ohlendorf, Hanna Kenow, <br /> and Alexis Bostrom were recognized for 5 years of service. <br />
