Park and Recreation Committee Meeting Agenda <br />March 23, 2006 <br />6:30 P.M. <br /> <br />1. Roll Call <br /> <br />2. Approval of minutes from the February 23, 2006 meeting – Are currently not available. <br /> <br />3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners on issues of concern. <br /> <br />4. YMCA Update <br /> Ice Rink Years End Report <br /> <br />5. Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />Groveland Park Building Replacement – <br />On February 27, 2006 the City Council awarded a contract to: <br />Base Bid Alternate#1 Total:Base/Alt <br />DNR Construction Inc. $226,900.00 $5,000.00 $231,900.00 <br /> <br />The bid alternate #1, air conditioning, was included in the contract. Staff is currently working with the contractor to get a schedule for construction. Although not official yet, the <br /> tentative start date will be August 5th, with construction completed in October. YMCA and Park summer recreation activities are currently scheduled in this building and will conclude <br /> on August 4th. <br /> <br />Random Park Building Replacement Project – <br />Early Saturday morning on March 11, 2006, the former Clubhouse was moved to Random Park. It has since been placed on the new foundation. <br /> <br />Oakwood Park Renovation Project – <br />Staff met with the City’s consultant regarding this project. There are many issues that will need to be addressed to make this project a reality: A permit from the Rice Creek Watershed <br /> District is required, a grading plan and erosion control plan will need to be developed, a wetland delineation is needed, a flood plain mitigation plan will need to be developed an <br /> approved, a permit from the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services will be required, etc. <br /> <br />The City Consultant, BRAA, will be submitting a letter proposal for the Commission’s consideration on March 23, 2006. Should the Commission find it acceptable, it will be submitted to <br /> the City Council for review. Should the City Council authorize the work outlined in the letter, the next step will be to develop a draft plan of proposed improvements in Oakwood Park, <br /> have it reviewed by the Commission, and present it for review and comment to the neighborhood. <br /> <br />County Road 10 Corridor Improvement Program – <br />On January 9, 2006, the City Council authorized a feasibility report for two trailway segments along County Road 10: County Road H to Silver Lake Road on the north side, and Long Lake <br /> Road to Silver Lake Road on the south side. The City submitted a Federal Grant application for the trailway located on the north side from County Road H to Silver Lake Road (segments <br /> 1-5). The City will know if we were successful or not with this grant application at the end of March.
