Park and Recreation Committee Meeting Agenda <br />April 27, 2006 <br />6:30 P.M. <br /> <br />1. Roll Call <br /> <br />2. Swear in new member (Thai Vang) <br /> <br />3. Approval of minutes from the March 23, 2006 meeting. <br /> <br />4. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners on issues of concern. <br /> <br />Katie Engman from Tobacco Free Youth Recreation will be at our April 27th meeting with some high school students to present a tobacco-free policy. <br /> <br />5. YMCA Update <br /> At the March 23, 2006 meeting, the Commissioners requested an update on the fee structure for field reservations that other communities are using in 2006. The YMCA has submitted a summary. <br /> <br />6. Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />Groveland Park Building Replacement – <br />Although not official yet, the tentative start date will be August 5th, with construction completed in October. YMCA and Park summer recreation activities are currently scheduled in <br /> this building and will conclude on August 4th. <br /> <br />Random Park Building Replacement Project – Soil borings will be done this Friday for the parking lot area. The storm water holding pond area has been staked out. The contractor is waiting <br /> for corrected plans for elevation on building. The City is working with the contractor and consultant on possible building code issues. <br /> <br />Oakwood Park Renovation Project – Staff will present a proposal for the rehabilitation of this park. This proposal will include the elimination of the baseball field on the southside <br /> of Hillview Road and replacing it with two soccer fields; one medium sized and one small. The proposal will also include a playground area in the southeast corner of the current baseball <br /> area; south of Hillview Road. It will also include a new disc golf course; in the park area north of Hillview Road. <br /> <br />County Road 10 Corridor Improvement Program – <br />The Transportation Advisory Board has selected projects to receive federal transportation funds through the 2005 regional solicitation process. On March 31, 2006, Staff received confirmation <br /> from the Metropolitan Council that the City of Mounds View was successful in receiving a transportation enhancement grant in the amount of $525,000 for the County Road 10 Trailway Project <br /> from County Road H to Silver Lake Road on the north side. This grant requires matching funds in the amount of $131,250 for a total project fund of $656,250. The grant funds will be <br /> available in 2009.
