Park and Recreation Committee Meeting Agenda
November 16, 2006
6:30 P.M.
1. Roll Call

2. Approval of minutes from the October 26, 2006 meeting.

3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners on issues of concern.

4. YMCA Update

5. Unfinished Business:

Oakwood Park Proposal
Phase I
In soliciting quotes for grading activities associated with Phase I activities for Oakwood Park, contractors are finding it difficult to provide an accurate bid without survey data of
the existing site. As result, many contractors were reluctant to submit a quote without this information. To address this, Staff has requested the City’s consultant to perform a simple
survey the Oakwood field by providing spot elevations. Any extra soil from grading the soccer fields will be exported to the north side of Hillview to be used in berms. The ag-lime
on the baseball field will be reused to top dress unpaved trailways in the City.

This data will then be made available to all parties interested in providing a quote on this project. Quotes for other Phase I items such as irrigation, fencing, and seeding will be
submitted to the Commission for review along with the grading quotes. If this project proceeds, construction of Phase I items is planned to commence first thing in the spring.

Phase II
Phase II is the creation of a playground area adjacent to the proposed soccer fields.
What age group does the Commission what to design the playground for? One design for younger children and a second design for slightly older children? What pieces of equipment does the
Commission want to include in the design? Swing set with 2 buckets and 2 belts. A catalog of possible play pieces and playground amenities will be available at the meeting.

Phase III
Disc Golf - The City has received a proposal and general information from Michael Snelson of Fairway Flyerz Discs, Inc. regarding the creation of the disc golf course. This proposal
is included in the packet.

Potential Schedule
November 16 – Discuss plan / provide direction
December 21 – Finalize plans and recommendations
January / or Feb 2007 – Council approved Oakwood Park Rehabilitation Project for Phase I, II, &III.
