Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting Agenda <br />March 15, 2007 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />1. Roll Call <br /> <br />2. Approval of minutes from the February 22, 2007 meeting. <br /> <br />3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners on issues of concern. <br /> <br />4. YMCA Update <br /> <br />5. Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />Oakwood Park Proposal <br />Phase I <br />Quotes for Phase I items which include grading, irrigation, and restoration (using mechanical seeding) will be presented to the City Council on March 26, 2007 for consideration of awarding <br /> a contract. To ensure that this project is completed in a timely fashion and to address the coordination issues that would be encountered with multiple contractors, the contracts have <br /> been consolidated so as to have one general contractor responsible for the grading, irrigation, and restoration aspects of Phase I. The contract for the fencing portion of this phase <br /> will be presented at a later meeting as a separate contract. <br /> <br />Phase II <br />Phase II is the creation of a playground area adjacent to the proposed soccer fields. The Commission has made a motion recommending “Recess Time II” in earth tone colors. This will <br /> be presented to the City Council on March 26, 2007. No swings to be included. <br /> <br />Phase III <br />Disc Golf – The Commission has a motion recommend the design of an 18-Hole course by Mike Snelson from Fairway Flyerz. <br /> <br /> <br />Park Improvement Plan – On February 22, 2007 the Commissioners updated the Park Improvement Plan. There are three categorized that items in the Park Improvement Plan are placed: <br />A. Maintenance (do during the present calendar year) <br />B. Budget (budgeted item for next year) <br />C. Long Term (large expenditure item to be added to Capital Improvement Program) <br />The capital items (Long Term – Category “C” Items) in the Park Improvement Plan get added to the City’s overall Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The draft CIP is scheduled to be reviewed <br /> by City Council on April 2, 2007. If there are Category “C” Items in the Park Improvement Plan that the Commissioners would like to revised (add, delete, revise, or change the year <br /> programmed) this should be discussed at this meeting. Category A and B items can be addressed as part of the annual park tour / review. <br /> <br />Park Watch Program – Commissioners Aukee and Kunz will draft an article for the next Mound View Matters. Articles are due, Thursday, March 15th at 4:30pm.
