Greg Lee
From: Travis Germundson [Travis.Germundson@dnr.state.mn.us]
Sent: Monday, October 08, 2007 12.14 PM
To: Nick Fleischhacker
Subject: Re. Wetlands
The Department's goal would be to limit the number of trees removed adjacent to or within
a public water wetland. However, there are no DNR rules or statues that would prohibit
the removal of trees altogether. The City may have some language in their shoreland or
wetland ordinances that may limit the removal of woody vegetation.
If you still have questions you can contact me directly at 651-772-7914. You may also
want to contact Rice Creek Watershed District.
Travis Germundson
Area Hydrologist
DNR Waters
1200 Warner Rd
St. Paul, MN 55106
651-772-7914
»> "Nick Fleischhacker" <nick.fleischhacker@ci.mounds-view.mn.us> 10/8/2007 10:20 AM »>
Hi
I work for the City of Mounds view Public Works Department. Residents
in a park have requested the removal/thinning of small willow trees in a
parkwetland area for aesthetic purposes. Is the removal of these trees
in a wetland area allowed by the DNR.
Thanks
Nick Fleischhacker
City of Mounds View
763-717-4063
1
