Item No. 6B <br /> MEMORANDUM MOM/1116V <br /> PUBLIC WORKS <br /> To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br /> From: Pete Szurek— Public Works Superintendent <br /> Date: August 21, 2024 <br /> RE: Public Works Staff Report <br /> The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department. <br /> (2 fulltime Park Workers, Arborist and 4 seasonal workers) worked on the following items since Aug. 1, <br /> 2024. <br /> Parks Maintenance <br /> • Weekly cutting and painting of soccer, lacrosse and ball field lines <br /> • Daily Ballfield game preparations <br /> • Splash Pad daily maintenance <br /> • Added new playground chips to: City Hall, Groveland and Lambert playgrounds <br /> • Several irrigation system repairs and assessments <br /> • Repaired old soccer goals in preparation of fall soccer <br /> • Mowing, whipping and trash clean up at all parks <br /> • Festival in the park set up, August 12-16: Temporary fencing set up, field marking for crafters <br /> and car show, 70 picnic tables distributed, 6 tent set ups, location marking <br /> Forestry <br /> Staff worked on the following items this last month: <br /> • Resident phone consults and site visits, daily (Responded to dozens and dozens of calls and <br /> emails) <br /> • Contractor meets and calls <br /> • Buck thorn removal <br /> • Several hazard removals on city property <br /> • Rough cutting buckthorn <br /> • Watering trees and the circle garden at Silverview <br /> • Started full tree survey of the city (started marking trees) <br /> • Festival Preparation <br /> • Working on city tree sale <br /> • Working on prairie kits <br /> • Assisting Parks <br /> 11Page <br />
