RESOLUTION NO 9971 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />APPROVING THE NON -UNION PUBLIC WORKS APPRENTICE JOB DESCRIPTION <br />AND AUTHORIZING THE PROMOTION OF SEASONAL EMPLOYEE NIKLAUS <br />LODER TO FILL THE VANCANCY <br />WHEREAS, the City posts vacant Union Public Works positions multiple times before receiving <br />qualified applications, a Public Works Apprentice job description was created with the intent to groom <br />candidates to fill openings as they occur; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City is currently experiencing a vacancy due to a recent resignation within the <br />Drinking Water Subdivision. After an internal recruitment process was opened for the Drinking Water <br />position, a new vacancy within the Wastewater Subdivision now exists; and <br />WHEREAS, the City hires Seasonal employees to assist the Public Works Department over the <br />summer months and one member of the seasonal staff, Niklaus Loder, indicated a desire to work for the <br />City on a full-time basis, continuing to learn the skills within the department; and, <br />WHEREAS, staff found Mr. Loder's performance as a seasonal employee outstanding, and <br />selected him to be promoted into the Public Works Apprentice position; and, <br />WHEREAS, staff and the HR Committee support the hire of Niklaus Loder to the position of Public: <br />Works Apprentice; and, <br />WHEREAS, staff requests to begin employment of Niklaus Loder at Grade 4, Step 1 of the 2024 <br />pay plan effective August 27, 2024 with benefits; and <br />2024 - Grade 4 <br />4% <br />3.75% <br />3.75% <br />3.750 <br />3.5% <br />3.25% <br />3% <br />2.75% <br />Step 1 <br />Step 2 <br />Step 3 <br />Step 4 <br />Step 5 <br />Step 6 <br />Ste 7 <br />Step 8 <br />Ste 9 <br />$25.92 <br />$26.96 <br />$27.97 <br />$29.02 <br />$30.11 <br />$31.16 <br />$32.17 <br />$33.14 <br />$34.05 <br />and; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey County, <br />Minnesota does hereby: <br />• Approve the Public works Apprentice Job Description <br />• Promote Niklaus Loder to the position of Public Works Apprentice <br />• Starting date of August 27, 2024 <br />• Beginning wage Grade 4, Step 1 of the 2024 pay plan, includes all benefits to become <br />effective September 1, 2024. <br />• Employee subject to a 6-month probationary period, and eligible for Step 2 upon successful <br />completion of 6-months employment; and eligible for Step 3 upon one-year anniversary <br />date and annual Step increases on anniversary date. <br />• Should the Public Works Apprentice successfully complete their training and certification <br />requirements by or before two -years of their August 27, 2024 anniversary date, they will <br />have the opportunity to complete the hiring requirements for the Union Public Works <br />Maintenance position. <br />Adopted this 26'h day of august, 2024. <br />cK L or <br />ATTEST: <br />Nyle mu City Administrator <br />
