Page 2 <br />Stormwater Intern <br />• Ensures compliance with requirements and standards of the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) <br />Permit; Assists with the MS4 Annual Report and ensures submission to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency <br />(MPCA). <br />• Oversees the public education and participation requirements of the MS4 Permit; reviews and responds to <br />resident concerns about storm water quality, pond buffers, pond maintenance, infiltration basins, Rain Gardens, <br />and other storm water related issues. <br />• Works with Engineering Technician and Building Official to implement an erosion control specification and <br />enforcement program that satisfies the requirements of the MS4 and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination <br />System (NPDES) permits. <br />• Oversees the reviewing and processing of applications for grading permits; assists in the writing and <br />administration of grant applications for various stormwater related programs; works with the GIS Specialist to <br />maintain an inventory of stormwater assets; assists in the development of a citywide surface water monitoring <br />plan; assists with implementation of the City's Comprehensive Wetland Management Plan and the development <br />and implementation of the City's Comprehensive Surface Water Management Plan. <br />• Prepares information and recommendations to the City Council, commissions and citizen groups on <br />environmental, sustainability, stormwater, and surface water issues affecting the City. <br />• Participates in professional group meetings to stay informed of trends and innovations in the field of storm water <br />management. <br />• Assists in the development and oversight of long-term stormwater maintenance projects and budgeting; provides <br />recommendations regarding stormwater infrastructure maintenance and improvements; coordinates stormwater <br />improvement project implementation and provides project oversight. <br />Other Work Functions (Illustrative Only): <br />Performs related work as required. <br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: <br />• Exceptional organizational and multi -tasking skills and ability to prioritize workflow according to immediate <br />demands in a fast -paced environment, with minimal work direction. <br />• Ability to understand and follow instructions. <br />• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public. <br />• Ability to communicate in a courteous, positive and professional manner. <br />• Ability to generate reports/maps using the following: ERSI, ArcMap, Arclnfo, ArcView, mapping, and specialized <br />software. <br />• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position. <br />• Ability to type correspondence and forms using Microsoft Office Suite applications. <br />• Office tools and equipment including telephone, copier, personal computer, calculator, and mobile radios. <br />• Ability to use proper safety precautions related to all work performed. <br />Persons with disabilities: the above is a general listing of job duties.
