MOUNDS VIEW <br />JOB DESCRIPTION <br />Job Title: Stormwater Intern <br />Grade: 6 <br />Supervisor Title: Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director <br />Department: Public Works <br />FLSA Status: Part -Time Non-Exempt/Non-Union <br />Date Reviewed: 09/03/2024 <br />Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience: <br />1. Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering with emphasis in water quality management or closely related field. <br />2. One to three years of experience inspecting systems and ensuring compliance with state, federal, regional, and local <br />regulations, standards, and requirements related to storm water operations, or equivalent combination of <br />education and experience. <br />Other Specifications <br />Valid driver's license in the State of Minnesota. <br />Desirable Qualifications <br />1. Registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT). <br />2. Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Certification or the ability to obtain. <br />3. Previous experience with urban storm water management. <br />4. Storm Water — Construction Installer Certificate or ability to obtain. <br />5. Storm Water - Construction Site Management Certificate or the ability to obtain. <br />6. Strom Water— Permanent Best Management Practice Maintenance or the ability to obtain. <br />Nature of Work: <br />This position is responsible for participating in the City's development review and site inspections of the City's surface <br />water in order to preserve and enhance this resource; assisting with the development, implementation, and <br />enforcement of the City's surface and stormwater related plans and programs; monitoring construction activities within <br />the City to ensure compliance with permit requirements; and related work as apparent or assigned. This position works <br />with homeowners to ensure Infiltration Basins and Rain Gardens function properly; and provides residents with <br />education materials on these topics. <br />Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation. <br />Communicates with: <br />Internally — Public works staff. <br />Externally —Vendors and general public. <br />Supervision: <br />None <br />Essential Work Functions (Illustrative Only): <br />• Coordinates the implementation and enforcement of storm water policies; collaborates with and acts as a point <br />of contact for other local, state, and federal agencies involved in water resources management; assists with <br />stormwater and surface water policy development and recommendations. <br />
