The forebay could be constructed with gabion baskets, steel or fiberglass sheeting, or ether methods
that also serve to slow and spread flows to cause large sediment particles to settle out, and to enable
flows to more uniformly flow through the remainder of the basin for improved treatment efficiency.
Sediment sources within the watershed should be identified and ways to minimize sediment entering
the pond should be implemented as part of or prior to completing sediment removal on the pond, This
will minimize the need for future pond clean -out efforts.
As part of the pond visual inspection and survey, miscellaneous pond maintenance needs were
identified. These miscellaneous maintenance observations and photos are detailed in Appendix A. A
preliminary prioritized list of maintenance needs for Silver View Pond is found below. It is
recommended that the city review these identified housekeeping maintenance needs and incorporate
these maintenance activities into the city"s ongoing pond maintenance program. Maintenance
activities should also be coordinated with Rice Creek Watershed District, MnDNR and the i.ISACE.
when such work falls under their jurisdiction.
Sliver View Pond Maintenance Needs (as evaluated in 2011):
The following maintenance activities are recommended:
Branches obstructing the outlet pipe should be removed. They will likely collect additional
debris, further blocking flow from the pond.
• The eastern 24" inlet nitre has been partially crushed, which is restricting flow through the
pipe. The damaged section(s) should be removed and replaced.
• Displaced riprap at the large, western CMP inlet should be replaced with properly designed
riprap and filter material.
• Sediment and debris near the western 24_" inlet pipe should be removed and the outfall
protected with properly designed riprap and filter.
Sediment and debris near the southwestern 24" inlet pipe should be removed and the outfall
protected with properly designed riprap and filter_
• Sediment and debris near the southwestern 18 inlet pipe should be removed and the outfall
protected with properly designed riprap and filter.
• Sediment accumulation in the large, western CMP inlet pipe should be removed and the
outfall protected with properly designed riprap and filter.
• Sediment and debris near the eastern 24" CMP inlet pipe should be removed and the outfall
protected with properly designed riprap and filter.
P: MPrs 27 MN 62 2?h'_ f09?
