Pond will reduce downstream
discharge rates during major runoff events.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
1, Anticipated changes in water and related land resources:
Pond size will increase as shown on attached plans. An outlet structure
will limit rates of discharge from the site and drainage area.
2. Unavoidable but anticipated detrimental effects:
There will be modification of present wetlands vegetation. ..Also, there
will be an increase in pond size and some decrease in upland habitat area.
3. Alternatives to the action proposed:
No action. Will result in continuation of severe flooding iu downstream
areas or will greatly restrict development in the tributary drainage
area due to the need to limit peak discharges.
PROJECT SITE DATA
1. Describe the type and amount of aquatic vegetation present:
See the attached report by Dr. James A+ Jones.
2. Describe the nature of the material beneath the water:
Peat and organic soils. Sands in upland areas.
3. Describe the nature of the upland area:
Relatively level to rolling grassland with groves of mature trees (oaks).
Apartment development to the south.
4. Describe type and amount of nearby shoreland development:
Apartment development along south marsh boundary.
S.
