MOUNDS Vt-EW- of Mounds View Staff R, Item No: 8D Meeting Date: July 26, 2021 Type of Business: Council Business Administrator Review: To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Don Peterson, Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9448, Rescinding Resolution 9427 to Install Netting to the Silver View Baseball Outfield Fence Background: At the May 10, 2021 City Council Meeting the Council approved Resolution 9427, installing netting to the Silver View Baseball Outfield Fence. Public Works Staff contacted the vendor after this meeting to schedule the installation of the netting. At that time the contractor informed Staff the cost of the project would need to be re- visited and adjusted. Staff received the revised cost proposal and the new cost for installing the netting increased to 30,700.00. The vendor indicated material costs have raised and we should expect a 10 to 15% cost increase each week, until the proposal was approved. Staff informed the vendor that this item would need to be brought back before the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission as well as the City Council for approval. The Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission reviewed this item at the June 24,, 2021 meeting and voted to have this item be brought back to the City Council and have resolution 9427 rescinded. Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. Financial Impact: No Financial Impact to the 2021 Budget. Recommendation: Staff as well as the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission recommends approval of rescinding resolution 9427 with the quote from Century Fence of Forest Lake for installing netting to the top of the chain link outfield fence line at Silver View Park ballfields for a total of $25,915.00, to be funded from the 2021 Park Dedication Fund, account 451-4470-7050. Staff recommends that until material costs decrease this project should be placed on hold.
