ounds View City Council Page Eight
egular Meeting June 14, 1993
Orduno stated that those persons who attended the last budget hearing
should have received a letter and budget calendar. Orduno encouraged
everyone to attend the budget meetings.
Councilmember Wuori stated that she has supported the Senior Center
since the idea was presented to the City. Wuori stated she will
continue to support the idea of a Senior Center until a final decision
becomes a reality. Wuori stated that many items that need to be done
in the City were discussed at the work session but that the
Senior Center is an important one to her. Wuori stated that the amount
of time and work that has been spent on the Senior Center has moved the
Center higher on her list. Councilmember Wuori stated that the Senior
Center still has her support.
Ruth White, 2917 County Road I, stated that the Senior Center is a pet
peeve of hers. Ms. White wanted to know if the governing body could
vote tonight on having an advisory referendum placed on the upcoming
ballot for the Special Election.
Mayor Linke stated that the Council is looking at all options. Mayor
Linke stated that he is looking at where he could receive the most
input from the citizens regarding the Senior Center. Mayor Linke
stated that there are many options such as a phone survey or including
a question mailed out on pastcard to the utility customers and that he
is Iooking for the best way to reach more of the citizens.
u
Ms. White stated that a phone survey doesn't reach all the residents of
the City and that all residents should be polled with regard to the
Senior Center.
Mayor Linke stated that costs have to be taken into consideration also.
Ms. White stated that it would not cost any extra to have the
question on the ballot.
Mayor Linke stated that he would like to get more input than
what the average voter turn out at Special Elections is which is
approximately 1500 voters.
Councilmember Rickaby stated that the City has surveyed only
400 regarding the Center.
Councilmember Rickaby stated that if a postcard mailing was
used the return would be small, smaller than 1500.
Orduno stated that the response would be approximately one-third.
Councilmember Rickaby stated that one-third would be a generous
estimate, return would not be that large.
