ounds View City Council
egular Meeting
Page Nine
June 14, 1993
i
E.
•
'
Ms. Trude asked if there were different levels of design for the Senior
Center such as a nice design, mediocre design and a shabby design so
that th project would not have to be thrown out all together if the
costs were too high.
Mayor Linke stated that the theory he supports is that if the costs are
too high, then one has to start paring back and looking at what can be
cut.
Ms. Trude stated that the meeting room is nice in the Senior Center but
does it need to be two stories. Ms. Trude realizes that the seniors
need a congregate place, but do they need all the extra rooms. Ms.
Trude stated that perhaps the Senior Center would be easier to sell if
it were cheaper.
Mayor Linke stated that the City is asking the Task Force to come up
with the costs in 1993/1994 dollars per the resolution being
considered.
Orduno read the portion of the resolution that relates to the request
by the City that the Task Force provide a breakdown of all equipment
costs in 1993/94 dollars and a more precise breakdown on construction
and engineering costs in 1993/94 dollars. Orduno stated that some of
the figures are in 1991 dollars and that the City would like to see
dollar amounts that would be closer to the time that the Senior Center
would be built.
Councilmember Blanchard emphasized that this resolution does not commit
the City to any spending, but will give the City more information.
MOTIONfSECOND: Wuori/Quick to adopt Resolution No. 4372 Relating to
the Regioal Senior Citizens' Center Task Force Recommendation of March
30, 1993
VOTE•
4 ayes 1 nay Motion Garried
Tim Cruikshank, Assistant to the City Administrator, reviewed Staff
Report No. 93-529C regarding the Expenditure of $500 for Star of the
North Summer Games.
