Mounds View City Council Page Two <br />• Regular Meeting October 25, 1993 <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, read the Consent Agenda. <br />Mayor Linke asked if there were any items the Council desired removed <br />from the Consent Agenda. <br />Councilmember Trude asked that Item D. be removed from the Consent Agenda <br />for discussion. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Blanchard to adopt the Consent Agenda minus Item D. <br />VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />Councilmember Trude asked what the Lion's Club does with the funds from <br />the charitable gambling events. <br />Mayor Linke introduced the President of the Lion's Club, Bob Wharton, to <br />explain what is meant by premise permit applications and to give some <br />background on the request for premise permit applications and also to <br />• briefly explain how the proceeds from the charitable gambling events are <br />spent. <br />Mr. Wharton explained the procedure of obtaining the premise permits for <br />the three establishments in Mounds View -- Robert's Off 10, Donatelles <br />Supper Club and Mermaid Supper Club. Mr. Wharton presented the Council <br />with a list of Charitable Gambling Donations made by the Lion's Club. <br />Mayor Linke added that 75 percent of the funds remained in the City of <br />Mounds View or immediate surrounding area. Mayor Linke stated that 25~ <br />more than what was donated was given to the State. <br />Councilmember Trude asked Mr. Wharton to explain how the Lion's Club <br />finds out about those in need. <br />Mr. Wharton explained the application process and the fact that these <br />applications visit two committees before coming to the full membership <br />for a vote. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Blanchard/Wuori to Adopt Resolution No. 4434 Approving <br />Premise Permit Applications for the Lion's Club to Permit Charitable <br />Gambling at the Mermaid, Donatelle's and Robert's Off 10 <br />-VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />RESIDENTS REQUESTS AND COMMENTS FROM THE FLOOR <br />There were no requests nor comments from the residents at this meeting <br />. concerning any issues not on the agenda. <br />
