Mounds View City Council Page Twelve <br />~egular Meeting June 8, 1992 <br />2. Report of Administrator <br />a. Announced the Mid-Year Homestead Exemption available. <br />b. Attended the League of Minnesota Cities Conference last week. <br />Mounds View was included in the Optimization Study presented <br />at the League Conference. <br />3 . Report of Staf f <br />Ric Minetor, Director of Public Works/City Engineer, reviewed <br />the hiring of a seasonal employee assigned to the Parks <br />Department. Minetor stated that Tim Hetland had worked for <br />the City as a seasonal employee last summer. Mr. Hetland is <br />available to return as a seasonal employee on June 9, 1992. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Rickaby to approve the hiring of Tim <br />Hetland as a seasonal employee assigned to the Parks Department <br />for a salary of $6.50 per hour to begin June 9, 1992 for <br />67 days <br />VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />Chuck Miller, 1408 Laport, asked the Council if they had ever tried a call <br />in system in connection with the Council Meetings. Mr. Miller stated he is <br />a single parent and was watching the cable cast but decided to come to City <br />Hall, but it would be easier for him to call in. <br />Ric Minetor, Public Works Director/City Engineer, stated that in the past <br />the Council had tried the phone in method and hadn't received any calls. <br />There was a phone in the Council Chambers, but the phone has since been <br />removed. Two residents stated they would donate their time and the wire to <br />reconnect the phone in the Chambers. <br />Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, read a letter received from a family <br />with regards to the actions taken by Patrol Officer Mike Kampa that were <br />beyond the call. of duty during a crisis their family was experiencing. The <br />family was very grateful to Officer Kampa. <br />Acting Mayor Blanchard commented that this was another good job done by the <br />Police Department. <br />Acting Mayor Blanchard announced that there would be a special meeting of <br />the Council on June 15th to review the Long Term Financial Plan at 6:00 p.m. <br />at City Hall. <br />• <br />
