ounds View City Council <br />egular Meeting <br />Page Six <br />March 9, 1992 <br />Councilmember Quick asked what would happen to Williams Pipeline. <br />Minetor responded that the entire length of the pipeline for the <br />project would be replaced. The pipeline would be set back from <br />where it is now. The County is setting up a meeting with Williams <br />Pipeline for next week to talk about final details. <br />Minetor responded that Dave Rollins, Desing Engineer, will be meeting <br />with him to put a traffic plan in place. The project will only take up <br />certain sections of the road at a time. Minetor further stated that <br />at that time they will also decide where the detours will be placed <br />with emphasis on local access to housing facing Long Lake Road. <br />Mayor Linke suggested that Minetor notify the school system of the <br />work being done. <br />Councilmember Wuori stated that by late May or early June school <br />will just about be over. <br />VOTE: 4 ayes 1 nay Motion Carried <br />Councilmember Rickaby stated the reason she voted against adoption <br />of this resolution was that sidewalks would increase the costs to <br />the City and at this time she stated they were not necessary. <br />Councilmember Quick stated that this item had been discussed previously <br />by the Council and the safety aspects of pedestrian traffic <br />going to and from Irondale High School more than justified the expense. <br />Sidewalks are safe walkways that are utilized as a means of exercise. <br />Long Lake Road between Mississippi Street and Silver Lake Road forms a <br />loop which is used constantly by adults for walking. <br />Councilmember Wuori also stated there are four parks along Long <br />Lake Road that are frequented very often by children and adults. <br />3. Ric Minetor, Director of Public Works, reviewed Staff Report No. <br />92-197C regarding the bid award for the construction of a new water <br />tower. Minetor stated that three bids were received. The lowest of <br />the three bidders was Pitt - Des Moines, Inc. in the amount of <br />$718,300. <br />Four deduct items regarding the lighting plans for the tower could be <br />eliminated. They are as follows: $5,300 for lighting of the column; <br />$4,300 for west logo lighting; $7,400 for southeast logo lighting; and <br />$4,300 for northeast logo lighting. Lighting costs would be <br />approximately $21,300. Electricity and repairs would be approximately <br />. $6,000 per year if they were to be installed. Council wanted these <br />prices to determine if they wanted to go ahead with the lighting. <br />
