Mounds View City Council April 11,2011 <br /> • Regular Meeting Page 3 <br /> 1 C. Discussion with Ramsey County Sheriff Matt Bostrom <br /> 2 <br /> 3 Ramsey County Sheriff Matt Bostrom introduced himself to the Council and thanked them for <br /> 4 their time this evening. He commented on his first 100 days of service and how he has worked to <br /> 5 encourage collaboration between law enforcement agencies for the betterment of Ramsey County <br /> 6 residents. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Sheriff Bostrom indicated the City of Mounds View was served well by Police Chief Kinney. He <br /> 9 was pleased to serve the community and proud to work with the men and women in Ramsey <br /> 10 County. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 Council Member Mueller thanked the Sheriff for inviting all Boy Scouts in the County to an <br /> 13 event in March, which was very well attended and a great way to provide outreach and positive <br /> 14 leadership to the youth in the area. Sheriff Bostrom agreed this was a great event and stated he <br /> 15 would continue to encourage his deputies to come alongside youth through positive interactions. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Mayor Flaherty thanked Sheriff Bostrom for attending this evening's meeting and welcomed him <br /> 18 to the community. He was pleased that his deputies were engaged in the community. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 7. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> 21 A. Resolution 7768, Adopting a Calendar for the Preparation of the 2012 <br /> • 22 Budget. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Finance Director Beer indicated the 2012 budget calendar was about to commence. He noted the <br /> 25 City was mandated to publish a schedule to meet the Charter requirement. Public meeting dates <br /> 26 were noted within this calendar. The dates were reviewed in detail and the information has been <br /> 27 posted on the City's website. Staff requested the Council approve the 2012 budget calendar. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7768, Adopting <br /> 30 a Calendar for the Preparation of the 2012 Budget. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Council Member Stigney noted the long term stability of the budget should also be reviewed <br /> 33 through the budgeting process. Finance Director Beer noted the five year Financial Plan would <br /> 34 be discussed through the budget process. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Ayes—5 Nays—0 Motion carried. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 B. Resolution 7767, Approving the Hire of Andrew Olson to the Position of <br /> 39 Police Officer. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Police Chief Kinney requested the Council approve the hire of Andrew Olson to the position of <br /> 42 Police Officer. He noted this was a replacement position for a vacancy the department has had <br /> 43 for a year and a half. The Police Civil Service Commission did certify an active eligibility list in <br /> 44 mid-February. From that list,the top candidate was Andrew Olson. Police Chief Kinney felt Mr. <br /> • 45 Olson would be a great fit with the Police Department. He stressed the importance of public <br />
