WHEREAS, proper forest management has many positive effects including <br />increasing property values, aesthetics, reducing energy costs, attracting wildlife, <br />reducing stormwater runoff, and providing an overall higher quality of life; and <br />WHEREAS, regular trimming of boulevard and parkland trees are necessary to <br />maintain proper health and prevent damage and hazardous conditions to the public; and <br />WHEREAS, quote proposals were solicited from qualified tree contractors to <br />provide a two -person crew, bucket truck, chipper, and chip truck for tree trimming <br />activities; and <br />WHEREAS, quotes ranged between $130 to $150 per hour, with the lowest <br />responsible quote submitted by 4 Seasons Tree Care, Inc. of Pierz, Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, tree trimming is included in the adopted 2011 Budget in the amounts <br />of $9,000 in Forestry (100-4360-3030) and $2,000 in Parks Maintenance (100-4360- <br />3030). <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. The quote of $130 per hour submitted by 4 Seasons Tree Care to trim boulevard <br />and parkland trees is hereby accepted by the City. <br />2. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed, for and on <br />behalf of the City, to execute and enter into an independent contractor <br />agreement with 4 Seasons Tree Care, Inc. upon satisfactory review by the City <br />Attorney. <br />Adopted this 24th day of January, 2011. <br />Joe Flaherty, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />James Ericson, City Administrator <br />SEAL)
