Mounds View City Council February 13, 2012 Regular Meeting Page 7 • Council Member Gunn commented she spoke with several residents that were concerned with the newspapers piled at the base of the grouped mailboxes. A complaint was made to the Sun Focus and no action has been taken to date. Council Member Mueller requested the local papers be invited to an upcoming work session to assist with finding a solution to the matter. Council Member Hull agreed with this suggestion. Council Member Mueller asked if the City had estimated the expense to install the newspaper tubes onto the mailbox posts. Public Works Director DeBar indicated this has not been estimated but could be reviewed for Area E. Mayor Flaherty indicated the Council discussed this issue years ago regarding the need to communicate with residents and the newspaper was a tool for this type of communication. He encouraged the residents to request a newspaper tube from the Sun Focus. Public Works Director DeBar explained another concern at this time was that the mailboxes were grouped and a number of newspapers were sitting in a yard at this time. • Mayor Flaherty encouraged residents to take in their newspapers. The Council consensus was to not proceed with funding newspaper tubes at this time. MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Stigney. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7893, Approving the Purchase of Supplies for Grouped Mailboxes for the 2012 Street and Utility Improvement Project—Area E. Ayes—5 Nays—0 Motion carried. 9. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS Finance Director Beer answered the Council's questions related to claims. MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Approve the Just and Correct Claims as presented.
