<br /> <br />Resolution 7970, Approving the 2012 Mounds View Festival in the Park Contract. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane stated the City currently has $4,500 in kind donations allotted for Festival in the Park for this year. She noted this years Festival was scheduled <br /> for August 18, 2012. She requested the agreement between the City and the Festival Committee be reviewed and approved by the Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked staff for updating the contract. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7970, Approving the 2012 Mounds View Festival in the Park Contract. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />Resolution 7971, a Resolution Authorizing the Hire of Steven Thorp as Building Official in the Community Development Department. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane indicated the City’s former Building Official resigned on March 18, 2012. The Council authorized staff to begin seeking a new building official at <br /> its April 23, 2012 meeting. Staff has since advertised and interviewed for this position. It was recommended the Council hire Steven Thorp as the City’s Building Official. Employment <br /> for Mr. Thorp would begin on or about August 6, 2012. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty noted Mr. Thorp currently works for the City of Rosemount. He questioned if this individual would be able to step into the position without a great deal of training. <br /> City Administrator Ericson stated this was the case. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7971, a Resolution Authorizing the Hire of Steven Thorp as Building Official in the Community Development Department. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller asked if Mr. Thorp’s experience as a Fire Marshal would be used by the City of Mounds View. City Administrator Ericson indicated these duties have been removed <br /> from the job description. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty and the entire Council welcomed Mr. Thorp to the City of Mounds View. Mr. Thorp was looking forward to working for the City. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller invited Mr. Thorp to attend this years Festival in the Park as it would be a great family event.
