To not increase the 2012 budget by $20,000 through the purchase of the 400 chairs for the Event Center in the Mounds View Community Center. <br /> <br />AMENDMENT VOTE: <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />Council Member Stigney stated he was in favor of the City staying within the 2012 budget for this expense. <br /> <br />MOTION VOTE: <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 1 (Stigney) Motion carried. <br /> <br />Resolution 7973, Authorizing Envirobate to Perform HVAC Decontamination and Cleaning at the Community Center. <br /> <br />Public Works Director DeBar stated the HVAC units at the Community Center were in need of cleaning and decontamination. It was reported the system was installed in 1997 and has struggled <br /> to provide consistent air quality in the building. Limited HVAC work has been completed on the building in the last 12 years of operation. The deficiencies and high humidity were <br /> now a result of this deferred maintenance. <br /> <br />Public Works Director DeBar indicated an environmental consultant recommended a deep cleaning of the HVAC system. Envirobate was contacted to assist the City with cleaning the duct <br /> work and roof top units. The work would be completed on a time and material basis. In addition, the ceiling tiles would need cleaning or replacement in the RTU4 zone. <br /> <br />Public Works Director DeBar explained this was not a budgeted expense, however would address the concerns with the HVAC unit at the Community Center. He recommended authorizing Envirobate <br /> to perform the cleaning. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller asked if this was a long-term solution to address the concerns with the HVAC units at the Community Center. Public Works Director DeBar commented the space was <br /> not balanced when it was first constructed. He noted the open air plenum did not typically have issues. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller questioned if it was cost effective to have the duct work cleaned and wiped down instead of replaced. Public Works Director DeBar stated it was less expensive <br /> to have them cleaned versus a total duct work replacement. He stated the cleaning would provide energy cost savings in the long run. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller inquired if this cleaning would be written into the Community Center’s future maintenance and budget.
